Cynthia Erivo: Rising Star with Exciting Projects After 'Wicked'

Given the popularity of the musical "Wicked," Cynthia Erivo's roles in upcoming films and television series could garner increased interest.

One of the most sought-after actresses in the industry, the 37-year-old British actress-singer never fails to mesmerize audiences with her acting prowess.

After her critically lauded performance as Elphaba in the film adaptation of "Wicked," Erivo's career seems poised to reach new heights of glory.

Wicked: Part Two

Erivo will experience yet another breathtaking metamorphosis in 2025 for the much awaited follow-up, "Wicked: Part Two."

Concurrently, both films were filmed, and they were finished in January 2024.

"Part Two," which picks up where "Wicked" left off, is creating a lot of hype as the most anticipated movie of 2025.

This anticipation is fueled by the phenomenal success of "Wicked" at the box office and Erivo's riveting portrayal of Elphaba, which resonated deeply with audiences.

Robogobo

Scheduled to debut in 2025, the animated series "Robogobo" features Erivo as the voice of The Slink. This role joins her impressive list of voice acting credits, which includes "Star Wars: Visions," "Blues Clues," and "Fraggle Rock."

Joining Erivo in the cast are seasoned voice actor Dee Bradley Baker, former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Ana Gasteyer, and Alan Cumming.

Prima Facie

In the drama "Prima Facie," is based on an adaptation originated from a play that featured Jodie Comer of "Killing Eve" fame.

The film script for "Prima Facie" will be crafted by playwright Suzie Miller. Directing the project is Susanna White. While the rest of the cast remains a mystery, "Prima Facie" is currently in the pre-production phase as of December 2024.

"Follows Tessa, an ambitious defense lawyer. She expertly represents her clients, including those who are accused of sexual assault. However, she finds out that the law does not provide justice after being raped by a coworker."

Blink Speed

Returning to the realm of sci-fi thrillers, Erivo is set to star in "Blink Speed." Known for her portrayal of the savant-like character Holly in the 2020 miniseries "The Outsider," Erivo will bring her talent to this new project.

Adapted from a short story by Eric Matthew Brown, the TV series will be co-written by the author himself. Netflix secured the rights to the story back in 2022.

As of December 2024, "Blink Speed" is still in the pre-production phase.

Carrier

Recently revealed, "Carrier," is based on the popular podcast of the same title, with Erivo set to star.

Taking the helm as director for Carrier is Dan Blank.

"Raylene is a truck driver who accepts an off-the-books assignment with no idea what's inside. She soon learns her mysterious cargo is a threat to the world and becomes the target of various forces aiming to destroy or control the cargo."
