Ariana Grande is said to be a strong contender for the Best Supporting Actress award at the 2025 Oscars.

Cynthia Erivo will face stiff competition in the Best Actress from Angelina Jolie, among others.

Universal Pictures studio executives have officially made a formal submission to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences following discussions with the teams representing Erivo and Grande. The ultimate decision now rests with the Academy.

"They both put their hearts and souls into this project, and I am sure they will both have two shots at Oscars," an insider told Page Six.

In just 10 days, the musical phenomenon has raked in a staggering $263 million in the United States.

This comes amid recent speculation that Universal found itself compelled to address unfounded online rumors last week. Rumors suggest that the "Thank U, Next" singer received $15 million while Erivo was paid only $1 million. Universal clarified that both stars were compensated equally for their performances.

The Oscar nominations are set to be revealed on January 17, 2025, and the buzz is already building around potential contenders for Best Supporting Actress.

Gold Derby bookies have identified Grande as a frontrunner in the category, competing against Zoe Saldana's portrayal of Emilia Perez. Additionally, Danielle Deadwyler's performance in "The Piano Lesson" is garnering attention as another strong possibility. The list of potential nominees also includes Isabella Rossellini for "Concave, "Monica Barbara for "A Complete Unknown," Saoirse Ronan for "Blitz," and Felicity Jones for "The Brutalist."
