Dwyane Wade Announces Fandom, Russell Wilson Bashed After '50 Shades of Grey' Release

50 Shades of Grey has been -- and will continue to be -- one of the most controversial pieces of storytelling this generation. NBA star Dwyane Wade announced that he was taking his new wife to see the movie, because he wants to learn a few things. Let's hope the public reacts more positively to his announcement than they did to Russell Wilson's recent praise of the movie. Apparently, the defeated Seattle star has received nothing but shade since he complimented the movie on social media.

The erotic romance novel, by British author E.L. James, first hit shelves in 2011. It is actually the first installment of an entire trilogy.

The storyline follows the expanding relationship between a young businessman and a college graduate.

Women and men all over the nation have ranted and raved over the steamy tale. However, according to TMZ Sports, Grey's fan base not only appeals to ordinary Joes, it also stretches into men's professional sports:

"Dwyane Wade could be trading basketballs for Ben Wa balls -- the NBA star [said] he's taking Gavrielle Union to see "Fifty Shades" this weekend because [he wants to learn something.] Wade (who's out in NYC for NBA All-Star Weekend) [said] he's not gonna let his new wife drag him to see the movie -- instead, he proclaimed, 'I'm taking HER! [and,] I wanna learn something,' Wade said...'I'm married! You gotta keep it up!'"

True, people are allowed to like whatever they want, but when they are under the eye and microscope of the public, things can get out of hand.

According to Fansided, Russell Wilson was bashed for similar statements to Wade's:

"After seeing a screening of the classic erotic novel, now film, 50 Shades of Grey, people are apparently mad at Wilson for seeing the movie...Shades of Grey appears to have many people upset that a film with its subject matter was released and are worried the impact it could have on their children...Nonetheless despite being one of Seattle's favorite people, it appears Wilson can't freely see the film without getting blasted either."
