Dwyane Tyrone Wade Jr. is one of the top athletes in the NBA, and his team, the Miami Heat, is equally notorious. Wade has been absent from the court in recent weeks, due to his third significant hamstring injury. Still, the player is powering through the pain of his injury and will carry on with his upcoming charity bowling event. Sources claim that the event makes a tremendous difference for underprivileged communities.
Before his time as a professional, Wade played college ball for Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During his time there, he stacked up an impressive repertoire of accomplishments.
He led the team in scoring, with an average of 17.8 points per game. He also led the conference in steals at 2.47 per game and accumulated averages of 6.6 rebounds per game.
Wade's impressive performances earned him a spot with the Miami Heat as the fifth overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. Since then, Dwyane has continued to stack achievement after achievement. For several years, Wade even had the top-selling jersey in the NBA.
In turn, it is easy to see that the Heat would feel the effects of #3's absence.
According to the Palm Beach Post, Wade's chronic hamstring injury has put the star's career in jeopardy:
"The Heat still have not closed the door on Dwayne Wade joining them before the end of this road trip, but there is no flight plan and it looks increasingly likely he will stay home all week...Wade has been out since straining his right hamstring Jan. 27 and [he missed] his third game when the team visited Detroit...Miami beat Boston without him Sunday and is 6-6 during his absences this year. This is Wade's third significant hamstring injury over the past two seasons..."
Surely, the shooting guard is in a lot of discomfort and pain. However, according to Terez Owens, Wade has not let that stop him from performing his civil duty:
"Three-time NBA Champion Dwyane Wade will be bringing the Miami and Caribbean heat to the Big Apple for this year's NBA All-Star Weekend. Wade is set to host his All-Star Bowling Classic on Saturday, February 14th from 1:00pm - 3:30pm. Presented by Apollo Jets, all proceeds will benefit Game Changer, the collaborative integrated sports program created by The Sandals and Wade's World Foundations to assist youth in underserved communities."
