Sports Illustrated is one of the most popular sports-related publications in the United States. Also, S.I.'s annual swimsuit edition is highly anticipated. It has been officially announced that this year's cover will feature the incredibly sexy Hannah Davis. Sources have stated that the superstar model was very surprised that her farm-themed pic was chosen. Others have asserted that they wish it hadn't been, as the photo has been described as inappropriate and controversial.
Hannah originally reigns from Saint Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The 24-year-old Davis got her start in fashion with IGN Models and is currently dating the retired New York Yankees legend, Derek Jeter.
Throughout her career, Davis has worked with American Eagle Outfitters, Victoria's Secret, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and, most recently, Direct TV.
There is more to Hannah than a pretty face, she has played tennis for many years. She was even the champion in the Caribbean National Tennis Circuit. Still, it hasn't hurt Davis's career to be ridiculously attractive. According to Sports Illustrated, Hannah was surprised her pic was chosen for this years cover spot:
"The cover shot, taken by Ben Watts at Tennessee's idyllic Blackberry Farm, marks Hannah's third (and, we tend to think, best) appearance in the issue and was revealed Wednesday night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon...Believe it, though, when we say that no one was more surprised by the results than the 24-year-old model herself, who learned of the news Tuesday afternoon through a prank made possible by SI Now..."
True, models tend to hold a higher and higher standard for modern women. This has caused a large amount of scandal and animosity between women across the globe. According to the Inquisitr, Hannah's cover wasn't able to avoid its own controversy:
"Derek Jetter's 24-year-old girlfriend, Hannah Davis, has been selected to be on the cover of the latest edition of Sports Illustrated's coveted swimsuit issue and some people are claiming the photo is inappropriate...The photo depicts Davis posting in a swimsuit at a farm located in Tennessee state. People magazine senior writer...said that we're getting close to the point when we will "all be desensitized" by the time SI debuts a swimsuit issue with a "bottomless" model."
What are your opinions on the situation? Does the pic go to far? Are models an unrealistic representation of women? Or, are they just normal people who are trying to make a living? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
