Mumford and Sons 2013 Tour Canceled Due to Bassist's Blood Clot in Brain

Alas, Mumford and Sons 2013 tour may be canceled. Their bassist, Ted Dwane, has a blood clot in his brain.

The Grammy-winning band, who took home Album of the Year in February, has called off three of its U.S. tour dates: Dallas, Woodlands and New Orleans.

As of yet, no other tour dates have been canceled.

Dwane, a much loved figure in the world of indie rock, also played drums, guitar and sang with the band. It is currently impossible for them to perform without his contributions.

After not feeling well for days, Dwane checked into an area hospital. Scans he received indicated that the musician was suffering from a major brain clot.

Apparently, brain surgery was needed due to the clot's size, scope and location.

Mumford & Sons released the following statement on their website:

"To our fans--Our friend and bandmate Ted has been feeling unwell for a few days, and yesterday he was taken to a hospital to receive emergency treatment. The scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation. Ted is receiving excellent care and we are being assured that he will recover quickly from surgery."

The band's letter to fans continued:

"Sadly we have to postpone three upcoming headline shows planned for this week in Dallas on Tuesday [June 11], Woodlands on Wednesday [June 12], and New Orleans on Thursday [June 13]. All dates will be rescheduled and will be announced as soon as we can; all tickets for this week's events will be honoured at their rescheduled dates. We have no plans to cancel or postpone any other appearances along this current tour. We're all wishing Ted a speedy recovery."
