Snoop Dogg is one of the most popular artists on the planet, and his son Cordell Broadus is following his father's example, as he carves his own path to super stardom. Snoop and Cordell currently star in a show called Snoop and Son: A Dad's Dream, which focuses on Cordell's football career. When it was originally announced, fans were exited to see which school Cordell would choose, as well as the interaction between the two stars. Now, they have officially announced that Broadus has chosen UCLA and that ESPN will be covering the event.
Born in 1997, Cordell Broadus is the second eldest child of Snoop Dogg and his wife Shante Taylor. Nicknamed "Lil Snoop," Cordell spent his early years hidden in his father's shadow. Now, however, Broadus has broken through that barrier.
Broadus helped lead Bishop Gorman High to the Nevada Division I state championship, he caught 39 passes for 602 yards and scored 11 touchdowns. Snoop has always stated that he believes his son's accomplishments are more significant than his own.
Broadus' popularity derives solely from his immense skill, his father's infamy has nothing to do with it. Now, Snoop and Cordell have their own documentary outlining the young athletes budding career. When MTV originally announced the airing of the show, it had fans and critics excited to see what they duo had to offer:
"The pressure is on for young Broadus, a high profile high school football star with big time college football program like USC and Notre Dame actively recruiting him. He has to live up to his father's namesake, while trying to make a name for himself. 'I'm more of a friend than I am a father, cause a father to me is someone disciplinary, who you really scared of, it's fear and respect...It's more just love with me.'"
Now, the time has finally come for the brute to choose the school he wishes to represent. According to the NY Post, Broadus' decision was unexpected:
"Parents Weekend at UCLA will never be the same...On Wednesday afternoon, Cordell Broadus - the son of Calvin Broadus Jr., aka hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg - went on ESPN and committed to UCLA, where he will join Justin Combs, the son of rap mogul Diddy...Broadus is considered...a four-star prospect ranked among the top preps in the country out of Nevada powerhouse Bishop Gorman. The 6-foot-3 Broadus picked UCLA over Arizona State, LSU, and - most importantly - USC, his dad's favorite school."
