New England Patriots Cornerback Malcolm Butler: Popeye's Fry Cook to Super Bowl's Honorary MVP

Patriot's cornerback Malcolm Butler put himself on the map with his game-winning interception during Sunday's big game. Before that, he was only an afterthought when discussing New England's astounding repertoire. Now, however, he has a permanent place in football history. Impressively, it appears that Butler has come a long way during his life. At one point, he was even a fry cook in a Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen. Also, Tom Brady has even stated that he wants to give Butler his 2016 Chevrolet as the game's honorary MVP.

Before his time in the NFL, Butler played college ball for the University of West Alabama. During his time there, he broke up 18 passes and had two interceptions. He was named first team All-Gulf South Conference for his performance as cornerback.

In May of 2014, Butler signed with the New England Patriots after going undrafted. That same year, Malcolm Butler appeared in 11 games with 1 start, and he recorded a decent 15 tackles and 3 passes defended.

His contribution toward the Patriot's championship this year wiped away any mediocrity in his past. According to the Washington Post, those average performances aren't the only thing that seem distant in Butlers Past:

"The manager of the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in Vicksburg, Miss., could always count on Malcolm Butler. Butler [started] as a cashier, and before long he began to 'cross train,' which meant he could perform every task in the store. Butler, 24, had completed an inconceivable path from batter cook to Division II standout to undrafted rookie to Super Bowl hero. Sunday night, Butler sealed the Patriots victory over the Seattle Seahawks with an interception at the goal line with 20 seconds remaining..."

Fans all over the nation were more than thankful for Butler's clutch last minute decision, and according to ESPN, Tom Brady has decided to show his gratitude in a big way:

"New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady won a 2015 Chevy Colorado for his Super Bowl XLIX MVP efforts, but he plans to give the truck to safety Malcolm Butler. 'I'd love to [give Malcolm the truck],' Brady said on Boston sports radio station. 'We're going to figure out how to make that happen. It's an incredible play, and not only that, that's the type of plays Malcolm makes for our team,' Brady said..."
