Seth Rogan has multiple movies releasing in 2013, but This is the End may be his most anticipated. And on today's Howard Stern Show, Rogan discussed being kicked off the set when Will Smith caught him smoking weed.
This is the End is a great "high-concept" film--an apocalyptic comedy that centers around an elite group of friends.
The film finds Seth Rogan, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson and Jay Baruchel playing themselves, coping (or failing to do so) with the end of the world.
The idea came from Rogan's drug use:
"We smoke weed as we write. Yeah, sure," Rogan admitted to Howard Stern.
Recently, Rogan made a video of himself rolling a cross joint. It was later posted online.
Not surprisingly, this made Sony a bit nervous. Rogan pointed out to the studio that his weed smoking habits have made them a great deal of money.
The company soon dropped it complaints.
He later admitted that he got kicked off of the set because Will Smith called and complained that Rogan was smoking weed. This escalated until he was thrown off the property.
Rogan didn't take it personally and changed the subject to James Franco. The two have had a bromance for the past 20 years, but it may have hit new heights.
Rogan was describing what Franco's house would look like in the film. Franco flew to the house that was going to be used and painted Rogan's name across the wall.
One of the highlights of the interview with Stern came from Rogan discussing Zach Braff's Kickstarter campaign. Again, not surprisingly, Rogan was hypercritical.
"It's taking advantage of someone's emotional needs," he said, telling Stern that if Braff wanted to, he could have made the film without exploiting his fans.
Rogan expressed concerns about the film's distribution as well:
"Movies don't come out for a ton of different reasons."
