A popular tabloid's cover story, which featured Bruce Jenner as a trans woman undergoing a sex change, has drawn even more criticism this week. Regardless of whether or not Jenner is actually considering surgery, many media outlets are claiming the tabloid's sensational cover story is nothing more than transphobia.
Not even In Touch could have predicted the buzz (most of it negative) that their recent Bruce Jenner cover story was going to generate.
In case you missed the scandalous tabloid, D Listed does a great job catching readers up to speed:
"Bruce Jenner has always been the hottest member of the Kardashian family, but recently he's been looking hotter, and he hasn't said why...but that hasn't stopped people from throwing out guesses. For example, InTouch Weekly seems to think he's slowly transitioning into a middle-aged Connecticut church secretary with an affinity for Revlon Kiss Me Coral lipstick."
D Listed isn't the only media outlet to throw shade In Touch's way.
Not only has Kris Jenner (allegedly) banned all Kardashians from speaking to In Touch, but liberal feminist publication Jezebel has also set their aim at the discreditable publication.
Kat Callahan, a talented contributor to the online media site, successfully addresses all that is wrong with In Touch's cover:
"It's really quite appalling to have it framed as some horrible secret to be revealed, as if transition was an indiscretion, a bad habit, or a destructive decision. That's not what transitioning is; transitioning is about healthy decision-making. It's about following whatever steps one needs in order to be happier and well-adjusted. And it's hard as fuck. It's emotionally and physically draining, but it leads to a better, truer life. Don't you dare act like it is something of which to be ashamed, because you'd be wrong."
What do you think about the latest reports? Was InTouch insensitive or are people just too sensitive these days?
