During the recording of Merchandise's recently released Totale Nite LP, frontman Carson Cox spent a lot of time making the short film Rush of Blood.
Intended as a visual companion to the record, the video was shot entirely in the band's hometown of Tampa, Fla.
The unsettling, but beautiful score was composed by Merchandise guitarist D. Vassalotti.
"Rush of Blood is an attempt at carrying over visual themes explored on the record--anxiety, mental fog, the elephant in the room," Cox, who directed and edited the film, said. "It was shot and edited in a style that is meant to reveal something to the viewer by its invisibility and hidden meaning."
As for what said meaning means, suffice it to say we're going to have to watch this one a few more times.
Cox also gave special words of thanks to Chris Swanson, Darius Van Arman, Shawn Reed and Aldo Padaldo, so perhaps one of them might help.
