Watch--And Get In On--Dan Deacon's 'Konono Ripoff Nº1' [VIDEO]

That NFL Championship notwithstanding, the City of Baltimore keeps on getting better and better.

Case in point: Dan Deacon's new music video for "Konono Ripoff Nº1," his official Record Store Day 2013 single, "is a snap shot, time capsule and video yearbook," says Dan Gill, of the Charm City scene--all rolled into one delicious crab cake of a viewing.

Like so many of Deacon's art-project-as-music-videos (e.g. his "True Thrush" vid from last year's underrated America LP), the cast of characters is comprised of Baltimore, Maryland's finest artists and artisans.

Classicalite faves, Nautical Almanac's James "Twig" Harper and Carly Ptak of Tarantula Hill, star at 1:15.

Interestingly, the video is a series of animated GIFs--which we also <3 here--of each cast member "with objects they felt represented them or were special to them," Gill says.

Directed by Meredith Moore, produced by Alan Resnick, the interactive vid lets you take part via the free Dan Deacon smartphone app powered--by Wham City Lights.

Initially conceived for use at his live shows (as featured in America's "Guilford Ave Bridge" music video), the application was used during Deacon's network television debut on Jimmy Kimmel last year, to bring the home audience into the performance.

Deacon's app syncs your phone to the music video, resulting in two vids playing simultaneously.

The video on your smartphone displays the rotating objects of a Baltimore cast member.

The speed of the object's rotation is determined by you--the user holding the smartphone.

"Konono Ripoff Nº1" can now be purchased digitally, replete with bonus tracks.

Deacon's a true social media ninja, too, so be sure to like, follow and re-blog him on:
