Dave Chappelle is one of the most successful and well known comedians of this generation. In one of his recent performances, he talked the controversial Ray Rice dilemma. Chappelle has proven time and time again that he is not afraid to venture where no other entertainer would dare.
Chappelle is typically considered a comedian and sketch artist, but he is also a screenwriter, producer and actor. He has been in some very popular blockbusters including Half Baked, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, The Nutty Professor and Blue Steak.
In general, though, Dave is best well known for his work on Comedy Central's The Chappelle show. Due to the show's popularity, Viacom reportedly offered Chappelle a $55 million contract to continue production of Chappelle's Show for two more years. Chappelle wound up turning down the deal.
He has always been able to look at situations from a different angle, and he has recently made headlines for his unique point of view. According to Fansided, Dave tackled the almost taboo topic of Ray Rice and the NFL Domestic Violence policy:
"[Chappelle] has new routines and jokes he performs all the time, and he stays in touch with current events. While doing a show recently, which is only detailed in the about section as taking place in December 2014, he addressed the domestic violence situation regarding the NFL.
"Specifically he took on former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice and the video of him hitting his then fiancée at an Atlantic City Casino....[He made] comments through out the routine like, 'it doesn't matter what she said' in regards to what provoked Rice."
This is no the first time Dave has pressed one of society's hot ticket items. According to Latin Post, the comedian's background provides him with a rare opportunity to go where no one else can:
"[In the past he has discussed] his experience with police brutality, Chappelle also discussed a wide array of controversial topics and people during his set, including Ray Rice, Donald Sterling, Paula Deen, Ebola, and racism...Dave Chappell also mentioned the comedian Hannibal Burruss, who prompted the recent rape allegations against Bill Cosby. He described Burruss as 'the guy who accidentally killed Bill Cosby.'
