American Sniper, the true story of American Navy Seal Chris Kyle, was recently released in select theaters, awaiting a larger nationwide release. The film stars Bradley Cooper (American Hustle, Guardians of the Galaxy) as Kyle, the deadliest sniper in American history. The movie also stars Sienna Miller (G.I. Joe), Max Charles (Amazing Spider-Man, Elf Buddy’s Musical Christmas), Luke Grimes, (True Blood & Fifty Shades of Grey) and Jake McDorman (Shameless). Now McDorman is opening up about the new film.
Jake McDorman recently spoke to InStyle about what the new film is all about.
“The film shows the effects that being in war has on somebody and the people around them.”
Chris Kyle’s real life wife, Taya Renae Kyle, helped write the book that the movie is based on and also help consult on the film. Taya recently opened to Navy Times about the film:
"If there was ever going to be a movie that was even going to come close to getting it right, this was it. A lot of people thought writing the book was going to be cathartic for us, and it wasn't. It was so fresh, so much about the struggles we had just gotten through, and it was taking us back in the mix of it. But with this movie, and having just lost Chris, it was very different. I do believe it was very healing in some ways..(Screenwriter) Jason Hall spent all this time with me, and I'm talking about my memories and my life and my love, and the love of Chris towards me and the kids. It was healing for me to be able to give that, and to be able to preserve some of those memories in a different way.
American Sniper will be released in limited theaters on Christmas Day 2014, and will be released everywhere on January, 16, 2015.
