Michael Phelps is easily the most decorated and well know Olympian of our generation. Recently, though, Phelps made headlines for receiving a second D.U.I. and for going to rehab. Now, Phelps is out, and he seems to be doing much better. The posted pics on Instagram, which feature some playful Christmas antics, come after rumors that Phelps once dated a transgendered person.
Phelps, now 29-years-old, holds the records for most Olympic Gold medals ever. Right now, he is up to 18, which is twice as many as any other athlete, and 11 of those are from individual male events. Also, his records span across many different events and overall Olympic games.
Yet, there seems to be a more wild side to Phelps.
These days, he seems less concerned with medals and records and more concerned with booze and partying. According to People, Phelps checked himself into rehab after his second drinking and driving charge:
"The Olympic swimmer, who was pulled over by police for going 84 mph in a 45 mph zone on Tuesday, posted a series of Tweets letting his followers know that he is taking a time out to concentrate on himself. [Saying] 'The past few days have been extremely difficult...I recognize that this is not my first lapse in judgment, and I am extremely disappointed with myself. I'm going to take some time away to attend a program that will provide the help I need to better understand myself.'"
Some time has passed, and Phelps seems to be doing a good job of handling himself. According to TMZ Sports, his recent Instigram pics portray the fit, fun-loving Michael we all know and love:
"Michael Phelps -- who just finished up a stint at a rehab center -- brought a 6-pack to Christmas (abs). The Olympic swimmer and his girlfriend Nicole Johnson (Miss California 2010) spent the holiday together...along with some friends and posed for a hilarious pic. Phelps posted the pic on Instagram and wrote, 'Yep...I forgot my pjs for the pjs party .... Oops.'"
