Amy Adams Talks ‘Big Eyes’; Director Tim Burton Talks New ‘Beetlejuice 2’ Cast [MOVIES NEWS]

For Amy Adams playing real-life artist Margret Keane in Tim Burton's new movie, Big Eyes, afforded her the opportunity to show a brand new side of herself. During a recent interview the American Hustle hottie explained that she initially passed when director Tim Burton first sent the script because she found the woman unrelatable, but after having her baby, Adams was able to see that Keane had strength -- she just needed a voice. While out promoting the film film, Burton claimed that the Beatlejuice 2 sequel is on the verge of being made. According to the latest gossip news updates, both Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder have been cast in the new movie set 27-years into the future.

At first glance the story of Margret Keane letting her husband take credit for her paintings for all those years may come off as the tale of a weak willed woman too cow towed to even speak up for her herself at home.

It certainly seemed a little like that to Amy Adams when she first read the script for Tim Burton's new movie, Big Eyes, but she eventually realized that the Keane's situation was far more complicated than that.

In an interview with Collider the American Hustle mom explained that it took her a while to see that Margret was someone to admire after all:

"When I first read [the script for Big Eyes], it was a different time in my life.

"I was feeling like I really wanted to play women that I saw as really strong and really tough...and then I read it again.

"And I don't know if it was just being a mother or maturity...where I actually saw the strength in Margret.

"The idea of playing this quiet dignity and quiet strength...and then found her voice -- I found that a lot more compelling."

During one of many career retrospectives that Tim Burton is forced to sit through while promoting the new movie, the subject somehow turned to Beetlejuice 2.

Batman's first cinematic visionary told IGN that the movie was already in the works, and since Michael Keaton was reportedly on board, he would love to join the project (via WGTC):

"There's only one Beetlejuice, and that's Michael.

"There is a script, and I would love to work with him again. I think there is now a better chance than ever... I miss that character.

"There's something that's cathartic and amazing about it.

"I think it's closer than ever."

Word has it that Winona Ryder is already set to reprise her role as Lydia in the new movie, set 27-years in the future, but if Amy Adams plays her cards right maybe she land a role as one of the newly dead.
