‘Mad Men’s’ Jon Hamm Turns Down Superhero Movie Role After Lex Luthor Casting: Compares Himself To ‘Avengers’ ‘Thor’ Chris Hemsworth

Mad Men’s Jon Hamm is often called one of the handsomest men in Hollywood, but there is only one problem with that. Hamm is more of an old-school handsome, and that leaves him feeling a little inferior to modern day hunks, like Chris Hemsworth (Thor), and Chris Evans (Captain America). However, Hamm has had his fair share of superhero movie offers, but the Lex Luthor parody actor has turned them all down.

Recently, Jon Hamm sat down with Radio Times to promote his new Black Mirror Christmas special, where he opened up about how the younger generation see’s him:

“Ask anyone under the age of twenty if they have heard of me and they will go ‘no, that guy looks like my dad’. It doesn’t compute to the generation that most of Hollywood cares about, If your last name’s not Hemsworth or you are not in One Direction or you don’t wear a cape and tights for a living, you literally have a hard time making an impression.”

Hamm then went on to add the has had offers to dawn a cape, but turned it down:

“For me to sign on now to do a superhero movie would mean I would be working until I am fifty as that particular superhero. It’s a lot of work at one thing which is not necessarily the reason I got into the business which is to do many things. If you want to spend all day pressing the same key that… seems an odd choice."
