As Mariah Carey reportedly sinks deeper and deeper into an alcohol fueled depression while dealing with her impending divorce to husband, Nick Cannon, the America's Got Talent host's net worth keeps rising. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Wild n' Out star has just been named as host of the upcoming People Magazine Awards. Last week Mariah was having to contend with her embarrassing "All I Want for Christmas Is You" performance at Rockefeller Center, while Cannon was dodging reports that he has already gotten his new client, Amber Rose, pregnant with his baby -- just to illustrate how different things are going for the married couple as of late. Word has it that Nick's recent conciliatory gesture to spend the holidays as a family may even have more to do with fortifying Mariah's wellbeing than the kids.
For comedic rapper Nick Cannon things seem to be looking brighter with each and every passing day.
Not only is he getting out of his failing marriage to Mariah Carey, his career is on an unprecedented up-swing.
After reports surfaced a couple weeks ago that Nick would be adding The Lifestyle of The Rich and Famous reboot to his list of hosting duties in the year to come, People Magazine just broke the news that he'll be also be MCing their upcoming awards show.
Cannon playfully joked with the magazine that he hoped this new gig would put him on the radar when it comes time to replace Chris Hemsworth next year:
"Looking forward to an amazing night and hopefully this will launch a new category for PEOPLE to name me Sexiest Host Alive in 2015."
Nick's soon-to-be ex-wife, Mariah Carey, doesn't seem to share his new found good luck, however, as her career is becoming a laughing stock thanks to her shaky vocal performances on her curent tour.
The Inquistr even implies that Nick Cannon's holiday return for the sake of the kids could even be a not-so-secret attempt at keeping Carey from coming completely off the rails before the 25th:
"[They] are dedicated to ensuring that togetherness is a priority for the sake of their twins over holiday time.
"Or is the on-again, off-again repetitious dance the two are doing more to maintain Mariah's stability?"
A friend of Mariah's told People last week that Mariah is doing the best she can juggling her family responsibilities with preparation for the few Christmas shows that Carey has been able to sell out:
"She's trying to keep it together.
"She's focused on caring for her children and her upcoming five sold out Christmas engagements in New York."
Let's hope Mariah really lets herself enjoy those last few sold out Christmas shows...they may vey well be her last.
