Sadly, it has taken thirty years for the rape allegation against Bill Cosby to reach a fever pitch that demands some sort of backlash, if not justice. According to the latest gossip news updates, however, the worst part of the whole story is that by and large the members of the comic community were familiar with the charges the entire time, claims veteran stand-up comedian, Patton Oswalt. The Ratatouille voice actor explained that in may have taken all this time for the U.S. Navy to strip the Cos of his honorific rank, but Bobcat Goldthwait has been talking about these sex crimes for years.
As of late is has become quite popular for any and everyone to distance themselves from Bill Cosby at all costs due to the deluge of horrific allegations that Cosby sexualy assaulted more than a dozen woman in the 80's and 90's.
Uncle Sam has even decided to demote Cosby since learning of his alleged sex crimes and according to Time the Navy has decided to take the rank they once bestowed upon Cosby as a great honor back.
Secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus, is quoted by the magazine as explaining that the conduct that Cosby is being accused of is unbefitting a Chief Petty Officer, whether the title is honorary or not:
"The Navy is taking this action because allegations against Mr. Cosby are very serious and are in conflict with the Navy's core values of honor, courage and commitment."
Perhaps, most telling, is that even Bill's biographer, Mark Whitaker, who is still promoting the book he wrote about Cosby's life, is even apologizing for not doing a better job at getting to the truth behind the accusations of serial rape.
In their latest December 15, issue Us Weekly reported that Whitaker had apologized via Twitter for not, "[dealing] with the sexual assault charges against Cosby and [perusing] them more aggressively."
While it has taken the rest of us just as long as the as the Navy to figure out what Bill Cosby is really up to when he's not making pudding, Patton Oswalt recently explained on You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes that the comedy legend's peers had all heard the stories about Cosby over the years (via Inquisitr):
"The Bill Cosby thing is so f--king awful, and what's worse for comedians is a lot of us have known for a long f--king time.
"It was a very badly kept secret in the comedian world, and a lot of us would talk about it.
"Bobcat Goldthwait would mention it all the time, and really people would just go, 'ah, that's bulls--t.'"
More poignantly, Patton gave voice to a thought that has been haunting may folks since the public finally started to realize just how many woman have come forward to say that Bill Cosby also drugged and raped them:
"And by the way, how many women have come forward at this point, like thirteen? That means that there's hundreds.
"That means that there's f--king hundreds.
"If you see one cockroach there's a thousand in your house."
It is hard to come to terms with the fall of such a beloved figure...but what is worse is knowing that your love may have given them all the cover they needed to rip hundreds of lives apart for their own perverted amusement.
