UFC Womens bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey may have retained her title after fighting Liz Camouce in the ring, but that doesn’t mean it was an easy victory. Rousey recently revealed that Carmouce is the only opponent capable of psyching her out.
Ronda Rousey has accomplished a lot as a professional fighter, but she has also made significant and profound steps for equality in modern day sports.
Not only is Rousey a mixed martial artist specializing in judo, she is the first and current undisputed Women's Bantamweight Campion. Unsurprisingly, she is also the Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Champ.
After winning eight of her ten fights with an armbar, Ronda has proven herself a master of submissions. Additionally, she has won an Olympic Gold medal in judo. Interestingly though, Rousey has just admitted in an interview that her stare down with Liz Carmouche threw her off her game. However, based on the outcome of that fight and her most recent domination, this appears to be the only time she felt off.
Ronda is known for her ability to walk the walk as well as talk the talk. It is a rare sight to see a person with such mental stability, strength and confidence. However, according to MMA Fighting, Rousey recently admitted Carmouche threw her off:
"You know who was the smartest ever, to really f-- with me in the staredown? Liz Carmouche," Rousey told reporters. "I've had girls try to get in my face, I've had girls try to smirk with me, stuff like that. Liz Carmouche just started spitting game right then. I was totally distracted...Well, I don't want her girlfriend to get mad at me or anything...Let's just say it was the most thrown off I've ever been."
Even if she was thrown off or caught off guard, it clearly did not affect her that much. Rousey submitted Carmouche with an armbar just like the majority of her other victims. Also, The Art of Grabbling reported on her most recent domination within the cage:
"Our resident judoka, Ronda Rousey, crushed Alexis Davis at UFC 175 even faster than her 1 minute and 4 second dispatching of Olympic Wrestler, Sara McMann at UFC 170. 16 seconds is all it took for Rousey to showcase her new boxing skills. Rousey continues to add to her toolbox combining elements of her past wins with knees, ground control, judo throws with her much improved and dangerous boxing."
