The Cleveland Browns are currently ranked 4th in the AFC Northern Division with a record of 7-5. The team has truly had their ups and downs over recent years, but it has mainly been downs. Seven wins is the most the team has had in a while. Normally, the team loses around 10 games a season. It's these lackluster results, coupled with disappointments like Johnny Manziel (so far), that have resulted in negative public opinion. This was recently exemplified when a Browns "fan" verbally attacked the team's head coach, during their recent face-off with the Steelers.
Johnny Manziel was so much fun to watch while he was at Texas A&M, especially during the year he won the Heisman Trophy. Now, however, Johnny Football fans are dwindling and, according to Bleacher Report, there may be a good reason behind the decline :
"Five quarterbacks were selected in the first two rounds of the 2014 NFL draft, none more ballyhooed than Johnny Manziel, the former Heisman Trophy winner who was selected 22nd overall by the Browns. Many projected Manziel to be among the first in his rookie class to start, but he's attempted just one pass while Blake Bortles (third overall), Teddy Bridgewater (32nd) and Derek Carr (36th) have all started for their respective club."
Poor records, coupled with failed prospective up-and-comers, have resulted in some fans losing their minds.
This was clearly illustrated during the Brown's recent game against the Steelers. During halftime, where the Browns were down 27-3, one fan recorded an especially offensive rant about his favorite team.
According to Complex, the rabid fan had some choice words for Mike Pettine:
"The play on the field was bad enough that it caused one diehard to completely snap...this guy likes Johnny Manziel, he hates pretty much everyone else in the Browns organization, especially coach Mike Pettine." Many times, "he addresses Pettine to let him know that he "sucks." Poor Browns fans. Decades of futility have caused them to literally lose their minds, to the point that they have now been reduced to screaming into their phones in their cars while driving by themselves. It's a truly sad scene."
