Richard Gere is hardly looking like the dapper gentleman he played alongside Julia Roberts in Pretty Women all those years ago. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Chicago actor isn't ready to give into his soon-to-be ex-wife, Carey Lowell's divorce demand, and things are about to get ugly. Word has it that the former Law & Order star wants at least half of the Buddhist's entire reported $250 million movie star net worth and, perhaps, even sole custody of their 14-year-old son, Homer. Some sources are speculating that Lowell wants revenge for all the alleged cheating over the years, but Gere's too cheap to make things right.
Apparently Richard Gere and estranged wife, Carey Lowell, are gearing up for an epic celebrity divorce as communication between the couple of 18-years has reportedly completely broken down as their day in court fast approaches.
A inside source claimed in Star Magazine's December 8 that Carey had been humiliated as multiple reports of Gere's cheating surfaced over their course of their 12-year marriage.
So, now if he really wants out, Dickie's definitely going to have to pay for it:
"She wanted to stay married and keep their family together, but when Richard didn't, she decided to take him to the cleaners.
"It's ugly, and it's only going to get worse.
"No amount of money could compensate for the embarrassment Carrey's endured."
While the attorney for the former Bond Girl, Richard Cohen, wouldn't speak to the rumors that Lowell was looking for at least half of Richard's reported quarter billion dollar net worth, Lowell's lawyer subtly clarified that it certainly won't be much less (via Page Six):
"Nobody has asked for anything yet...But she certainly wants her fair share of the marital assets."
According to the New York Post's gossip page, if Carey considered the bed and breakfast in Bedford, New York, that they bought back in 2009 to be part of their marital assets, Richard Gere seems to disagree.
Their report makes it plain as day that from now own Richard is listing himself as sole owner of the upscale B&B.
Not to be overly offensive with an overgeneralization...but aren't Buddhists supposed to be nice?
