Julia Roberts has been America’s hometown darling since sauntering on the stage opposite Richard Gere more that twenty years ago. Roberts has very rarely been so well loved by her own family. The 44-year-old actress recently sat down to discuss her blissful 13 year marriage to cameraman Danny Moder, whom she met on the set of The Mexican in 2000. That must be the only relationship the Steel-hearted Magnolia has spent any time working on during that period. What advice would she give, one wonders, to end the twenty year feud with a brother or sister. According to Eric Roberts, she probably wouldn't even talk to you at all.
It has sadly been public knowledge for years, that Julia Roberts has been entrenched in family turmoils almost as long as she’s been entrenched in our hearts. So it came as some surprise, when she sat down with Life & Style Weekly this month to give advice on maintaining a healthy marriage. Roberts comes through in the clutch, however, and knocks the ball out of the proverbial park with her usually unintelligible, contradictory jibber jabber:
"I believe in marriage for everybody...It should be as difficult to get married as it is to get a driver’s license. Fewer people would get married!"
With thoughts like that bouncing around your head and out your mouth hole, it's no wonder that her family would rather spend the holidays without her. Roberts, who is known for her portrayal of kind-hearted characters, has never been that kind in her real life, according to half-sister Nancy:
“When I was in high school and she was an adult, she would let me know that I was definitely overweight. She would make it quite clear to me and in a not-so-nice manner...My weight has fluctuated my entire life. So i got a lot of criticism from Julia, which was very discouraging for me.”
It seems Julia is no expert on interpersonal relationships. Perhaps her new interview should be entitled: Julia Roberts How to Hold on to Just One Relationship at a Time.
