Bella Thorne is back on TV tonight. The former Disney Channel star is guest starring on Fox’s Red Band Society. Thorne made her claim to fame on the, now canceled, Disney Channel series, Shake it Up. She will also be joined by former child star, Mandy Moore (Scrubs, Disney’s Tangled) who has a recurring role on the series.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode of Red Band Society, titled “How Did We Get Here?,” reads:
“A pop star checks in to the hospital, but it upsets the status quo. Meanwhile, love is all around as Kara and Hunter's relationship intensifies; Dr. McAndrew hopes to rekindle his romance with Dr. Grace; and Emma and Leo start to reconnect.”
In tonight’s new episode, Thorne plays Delaney Shaw, a child star with addiction issues. Bella Thorne, unlike a lot of child stars, hasn’t gone wild. So it was a bit of a stretch for her to play Shaw. However, Thorne was able to find some common ground as said in an Whosay Interview:
“I relate to her in a way that she's a girl constantly picked on and pulled apart because you don't like this or that about her. You think she's too fat...she's too skinny. That happens to me every day. That can be really, really bad for a 17-year-old girl to hear. That can do a lot to your self-esteem.
“ So I see where she's coming from. You kind of have to read between the lines. We don't say, 'Oh, by the way, I feel bad, because I'm always being used.' She says a line about money: 'Take it, money is all I have.' It's a moment where you see that money really is all she has and that's what everyone wants from her. Nobody wants Delaney Shaw, the girl herself. They just want the money that she's able to make them.”
Be sure to check out the all new episode of Red Band Society, tonight at 9:00 p.m. on Fox.
