Tom Selleck and Shaq Shoot Out Feud Follows Insensitive Disability Comments, Instagram Posts

While at LAX on Friday, Tom Selleck may have bit off more than he could chew, when he challenged and almost insultingly called out the 7 ft., 325 pound ex-Laker, Shaquille O'Neal. Then again, maybe he didn't. A free throw is only 15 feet to the basket. The player stands completely unopposed while making his/her attempt, and Shaq missed over 5,300. Shaq was also called out earlier this year, when he ridiculed a handicapped man's appearance.

A reporter from TMZ approached Tom and asked him a serious of basketball related questions. Selleck actually played basketball for the University of Southern California, where he only made 4 total points. Selleck also points out that he once faced off against Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and that the match was predictably one sided in Kareem's favor.

Altough, the most interesting thing was what happened when Selleck was asked what he thought about a charity free throw shoot out against O'Neal:

"...when he realizes we're just talking about a free throw shooting competition, Tom TOTALLY calls out O'Neal, not only saying he'd win... but telling us to tell Shaq he's calling him out."

According to Mlive.com, this isn't the first time Shaq has been called out this year:

"Former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal wrote Tuesday night on his Twitter page that he apologized for insulting a Detroit man with a rare disorder on his Instagram page..."

After many days and waves of criticism, Shaq was fed up with the Internet. So, he called the 23-year-old Jahmel Binion to make amends and attempt to defuse the onslaught. It appears that Binion did except Shaq's apology, even after the ex-NBA superstar stooped to the level of insulting his appearance and condition.

What do you think? Is Tom Selleck reaching out of his league by challenging Shaq? Or, based on Shaq's lackluster stats, does he have a shot? Also, did Shaq knowingly insult someone with a handicap? Or, was the whole thing a big misunderstanding? What were Shaq's intentions in making amends? Let us know in the comment section below.
