It seems like everyone is getting into the Skylander game these days. Disney launched a super successful version of figure based gaming, with last year’s Disney Infinity, and this year’s Disney Infinity 2.0. Now Nintendo is getting into the super addictive, collectible figure game. Nintendo’s new amiibo figures will be compatible with games like Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, and Hyrule Warriors, just to name a few. Nintendo is also offering a subscription service via Loot Crate, but the details on which are little sketchy, including the cost.
Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing, Scott Moffitt, announced the partnership with Loot Crate, in a press releases, stating:
“Featuring compatibility with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors this year, amiibo figures are shaping up to be one of the year’s must-have holiday items. Fans around the country already enjoy Loot Crate’s approach to delivering cool new items every month, and now they have a new and convenient way to get their hands on amiibo.”
