ABC ‘HTGAWM’ Beats ‘Scandal’ and Kerry Washington in Ratings; Scott Foley Reprises ‘Scream’ Movie Role this Halloween [PHOTO NEWS]

Perhaps, Kerry Washington has lost some of her charm sense having that baby or the chemistry between Scott Foley and Tony Gwyn just isn't what it once was, but for yet another week Shonda Rimes new series, How to Get Away with Murder--staring Viola Davis--has beat Scandal in the Thursday night ratings war. But in Washington's defense, the new ABC hit has overtaken many other well established TV shows, like Blacklist, to be named the highest-rated drama on television by a fairly healthy margin. According to the latest gossip news updates, Scott Foley will be reprising his role as the Scream 3 killer again this Halloween. Olivia Pope's boyfriend insist on wearing his mask from the movie every single year.

When 60-year-old Viola Davis finally got her shot to play the lead on a primetime drama, she knew that there wouldn't be any room to play around, and thankfully her Shonda Rimes driven hit, How to Get Away with Murder hasn't failed to deliver.

Surprisingly the show is doing better than Shondaland's old darling Scandal, even with a more conventional looking actress like Kerry Washington at the helm.

According to Jezebel, Hot to Murder is actually already beating all the other shows in its genre after first airing just a little over a month ago:

"Both How to Get Away with Murder and Black-ish are cruising through strong season openers on ABC, with the former also beating out NBC's The Blacklist as the highest-rated drama on the small screen."

Some people feel that the success of Viola Davis on television signals a subtle shift in the cultural barometer towards chacters that are blacker in perspective as well as skin tone.

Viola told Deadline that as far as she can tell, her show is the only one on TV at this time to feature someone in the leading role that looks black the way she does:

"I don't see anyone on TV like me in a role like this...a woman of color, of a certain age and a certain hue.

"And you can't even mention Halle Berry or Kerry Washington."

Kerry Washington's love interest on Scandal, Scott Foley, seems more than happy with having a beautiful woman like Olivia Pope acting as the sun around which the other characters revolve, but he admittedly isn't that big on change in the first place.

During a little chat with Us Magazine, Scott revealed that since he got the free costume, he's been wearing the exact same thing while trick-or-treating since 2000:

"I still have my character's mask from Scream 3 and wear it every year on Halloween."

Yeah...that started to begin its decent from cool to sad to creepy around the same time everyone just kind of forgot about Neve Campbell being alive.
