Mozart's fascinating compositions came alive last month via Lang Lang, Nikolaus Harnoncount and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Released on September 30, The Mozart Album is a two-disc project courtesy of Sony Classical featuring Mozart's concerti and sonatas.
Here, then, is the exclusive album trailer video complete with commentary on the process from both Lang Lang and Harnocount. The behind-the-scenes look takes the viewer form practice to a private interview.
"It's rare to work with a soloist who is so open," said Harnocount on working with Lang Lang.
The first session was recorded in the spring of 2014, in the Goldener Saal of Vienna’s Musikverein. This recording features Lang Lang and maestro Harnoncourt performing Mozart’s two famous piano concerti, K. 453 in G Major and K. 491 in C minor, with the Vienna Phil.
The second portion features three early piano sonatas: Rondo alla turca, the "Allegro" in F Major K. 1c and the Konzertstück in F Major, K. 33b.
Take a look below at the inside look of just how The Mozart Album came to fruition.
