'PBS to Air Willie Nelson Award Concert this Weekend

Willie Nelson's name might not come to mind when you think about the Gershwin Brothers but that will soon change upon the release of his new album. Country music's original outlaw was awarded the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song last November, and to honor the occasion Nelson is releasing, Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin -- proving that he too has long admired Ira and George Gershwin's contribution to modern music. PBS will be broadcasting the Library of Congress ceremony from last year which included performances by everyone to Edie Brickell to Neil Young, this Friday night at 9 p.m.

    After making his subscription debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra more than 40 years ago, famed German pianist Menahem Pressler is set to make his solo piano debut at the Symphony Center later this month as part of The Symphony Center Presents PowerShares QQQ Piano series. In addition to all the awards and accolades Pressler has received in his 70-year career, his televised Berlin Philharmonic's New Year's Eve concert was recently named 2015 Album of the Year by noted music commentator Norman Lebrecht.

    It looks like 39-year-old Hawaiian born Jake Shimabukuro is set to make 2016 his year. According to the latest gossip news updates, the ukulele virtuoso has just released his first App, followed by a new live album to be released next month. Shimabukuro's Live in Japan, is due for release late February and will include his super-popular covers of "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Dragon" and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" as well as some of his own original songs -- all culled from the best of his 2015 tour of the country.
