Fela Kuti claimed that music was for revolution. But sound being a weapon for real change hasn't been a notion for quite some time down in Africa.
All the better, then, that Kuti's getting some new light shed upon his plight via a new documentary: Finding Fela.
Directed by Academy Award-winner Alex Gibney (Taxi to the Darkside, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room), the film takes a deeper look into a story told by the three-time Tony-winning musical FELA!, which had its Off-Broadway premiere in 2008--recently revived on Broadway in 2012.
With a star-studded lineup, artists that are set to appear in the movie include Sir Paul McCartney, Questlove, Tony Allen and many more.
Knitting Factory Records will release the soundtrack on July 29 with the following tracklist:
1. Jeun Ko Ku (Chop 'n Quench)
2. Opposite People (edit)
3. Highlife Time
4. Lover
5. Viva Nigeria
