WWE Battleground continued with an epic 2-out-of-3 falls match between the Usos and the Wyatt Family for the Tag Team Championship. Jimmy and Jey Uso have been feuding with Luke Harper and Erick Rowan for months and they likely capped it last night with their (hopefully) final title defense against the Wyatts. After that match, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins were set to settle their beef in the ring (finally) but the two ended up brawling backstage and the match was cancelled.
The Usos and the Wyatts have been feuding over the Tag Team belts for months, and it's been great, but it's time to move on. Hopefully, last night's incredible match was the capper.
After a case of mistaken identity in a non-title match on RAW in Montreal, the announcers tried really hard to keep track of twins Jimmy and Jey during the match. While they were busy making sure the legal man was in the ring, Luke Harper scored a quick pinfall after a big boot. Minutes later, however, Jey Uso evened the score with a quick roll up on Harper.
The action after that followed the general thematic shape of their previous matches. Lots of high flying maneuvers from Jimmy and Jey met with brute force from Harper and Rowan. After a series of high spots and reversals and heart-stopping near falls, the match climaxed with Rowan pulling off a double superplex.
It wasn't enough, though, and moments later Luke tagged in only to suffer a double splash by Jimmy and Jey, who secured the Tag Team belts.
As mentioned earlier, the feud has run its course, but it's kind of sad because Harper and Rowan are actually an amazing tag team and probably deserve to win the belts. But another match between the Usos and the Wyatts would be an incredible waste of time.
Right after that, Seth Rollins was cutting a promo for his match with Dean Ambrose when Ambrose showed up and beat the crap out of Rollins before security broke them up and Triple H kicked Ambrose out of the building, effectively cancelling the match.
Stay tuned for Part 3!
