ABC’s new singing competition Rising Star is all new tonight, continuing the duel rounds. Country contestant Sarah Darling may have gotten cut out of the competition, with only Brad Paisley pulling for her, but that hasn’t stopped her star from rising. The up and comer is not showing any signs of giving up on her dream.
After being booted from the competition, Darling told reporters:
“This was a great experience for me. I am honored to have had the chance to be on the competition show and to have shared my talent with the millions of viewers during my two live performances. I have earned a new legion of fans and that is exciting for me.”
A press release offers more info about rising star:
“Sarah Darling is a small-town girl from Mitchellville, Iowa, raised up on Country and Gospel music. Her grandfather introduced her to the iconic sounds of legendary artists such as Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash. As her girl-next-door’s sound rings true, Darling’s musicality expanded from traditional with a flare of new country. Her influences ranged from Shania Twain, Alison Krauss to Fleetwood Mac, Carrie Underwood, Sheryl Crow and Tom Petty to develop Darlings unique style. When Sarah Darling is not singing or writing this fashionista enjoys cooking sweets, such as her popular macarons, and spending time with family and friends.”
Darling recently found her face on the cover of WHOAwomen’s July issue, where she told the publication about her writing process:
“I ended up dating this bad boy, wrote a ton of songs about this relationship. At the time I was wondering why on earth God put me in this tumultuous part of my life. But you know that it is true about being shaken up-sometimes it just stresses to you to do amazing things. After writing all of these songs, I started playing them out live and had no idea that they were even good…I just did my thing and I got signed to a label in Nashville pretty quickly after three years of being here and after singing my songs out.”
Check out some of the next Rising Stars tonight at 9:00 p.m. on ABC.
