Scarlett Johansson To Earn Big Pay Day For Broadway Play 'Cat On A Hot Tin Roof'

Actress Scarlett Johansson is rumored to be earning top dollar for the Broadway play "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof."

Johansson headlines the show and according to theatre insiders the actress is set for a payday of tens of thousands a week if the play is successful and the figured rumored to be somewhere in the region of $100,000 according to the Huffington Post.

"Scarlett is getting a weekly guarantee, plus a percentage of the box office," one theater insider tells The Huffington Post. "This sort of deal is usually only given to people like Al Pacino (who is rumored to be making $125,000 a week in Glengarry Glen Ross). This is only Scarlett's second Broadway play and she's already being treated -- at least financially -- like a Great White Way legend."

So popular is the Hollywood leading lady that in her last Broadway piece it was hard for anyone to get a ticket.

"The advance for Scarlett's play is huge," one producer revealed. "She won the Tony Award in 2010 in Arthur Miller's play and it was impossible to get a ticket. This time everyone bought in advance."

Boradway.com gave a description of the play:

"Set in the Mississippi Delta, 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,' is the story of Brick and his wife Maggie, who are celebrating the 65th birthday of Brick's father, Big Daddy Pollitt. Big Daddy is bothered by the rocky relationship between his beloved son Brick, an aging football hero who has taken up drinking, and his beautiful and feisty wife Maggie. As the hot summer evening unfolds, the veneer of Southern Gentility slips away as unpleasant truths emerge."

The next staging of the play set for Dec. 15 and is playing at the Richard Rogers Theatre.

Johansson joins a slew of stars on Broadway this season the list includes the likes of Shia LaBeouf, Alec Baldwin, Tom Hanks, Ricky Martin and Kathie Lee Gifford.
