Saturday Night Live in turning the big 4-0 and in attenuation of the new season, Lorne Michaels is making a few cast cuts. Earlier in the week Brooks Whelan announced via twitter that he had been axed from the sketch series. Now Noël Wells and John Milhiser have also been fired from the show.
Earlier in the week, Saturday Night Live oddball freshman, Brooks Whelan announced that he had been caned from the series, Tweeting:
"Had a blast and loved every second of it. I'm totally honored to be able to make this next joke... FIRED FROM NEW YORK IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT!"
Wheelan had previously told The Scene about how lucky he was to have gotten the gig:
“You know, it was pretty cool. Each step of the way I thought it was pretty neat that I had gotten this far, so I didn’t put too much pressure on myself in that way. As far as the audition itself, they saw me perform in Montreal, then in L.A., and then I auditioned on the stage where they shoot the show in New York. It was all scary, but I tried to (minimize that).
Lorne Michaels recently told Deadline about the upcoming cast shakeups, stating:
“We’re still in the middle of rebuilding. So, there will be changes this year.”
That rebuilding has continued. Now Noel Wells and Jon Cryer impersonator John Milhiser have both been cut from the cast.
