London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) will pretend to perform at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London on July 27.
Danny Boyle, the artistic director of the ceremony had wanted the music to be live. However, reporters from London state that the London Games organizing committee worries about bad weather and poor acoustics of the Olympic Stadium to ruin the live show.
LSO members complained about the decision. "The LSO is one of the best orchestras in the world," one musician said to The Mail. "and we are being asked to mime in front of a global audience of billions,"
"Due to the complexity of everything involved in staging the ceremonies, it's not possible for all the music in all the shows to be live," A spokesman said in a statement. "This is standard practice for an event of this scale, and the performers have no issue with it."
