Stone Cold Steve Austin's new reality show, The Broken Skull Challenge, is kind of like Survivor meets American Gladiators. Hosted by Austin, and staged on his own Broken Skull Ranch, the show pits "regular guys" against pro athletes in a series of head-to-head challenges. After weeks of elimination rounds, the last one standing gets to tackle one mother of an obstacle course, The Skullbuster. Be sure to tune in to CMT Sundays at 8.
Oklahoman Dustin Noble is excited to be one of the contestants on Broken Skull Challenge. While he says meeting Austin was a big deal, he was there to win the competition. Noble said his tenacity and upbringing were his biggest strengths during the contest (via Miami OK):
"I was the smallest guy on my episode,' Noble said. 'I went in definitely the underdog.
"'A lot of the guys hit the gym twice a day. I'm country-strong. I was born into a world where we got out and did manual labor. We earned our strength.'
"'I had a chance to prove to myself and everybody else to see what I could do,' he said. 'I backed up my words (about never quitting.) I feel like I can make Oklahoma proud.'"
Instead of relying on gimmicks, Austin's show is based purely on the drama of human competition. The head-to-head combat is reminiscent of American Gladiators, with hopefully few swerves and head-turning double-crosses. Not all surprises are good (via Wrestling Inc,):
"Austin's rules are fair, and competitors are quick to learn that even those with the most physical power may not be a match against pure determination. In the end, only one athlete will make it to the Skullbuster and even then, there are no guarantees he will complete it."
