“May 24, 2014 – As the temperatures are rising this Memorial Day weekend, so is the balance in Ron Ranallo’s bank account! The lucky Bartlett, Ill., resident won $1 million when the numbers on his Quick Pick ticket matched the first five numbers – 13 - 14 - 16 – 50 - 56 - (11) - in the Friday, May 16, Mega Millions drawing. Today, Illinois Lottery officials presented Ranallo an oversized $1 million check to commemorate the win.
“Ranallo, a factory worker, often asks his father to buy him a Mega Millions Quick Pick ticket. “My dad bought the ticket for me and then he checked the winning numbers on illinoislottery.com. When we realized I’d won, we were absolutely shocked!” Ranallo plans to bank the windfall for now and will “invest wisely” for retirement. “This lottery win gives me peace of mind.”
“The winning ticket was purchased at Mr. Quik Ezz Food Mart, 980 South Bartlett Road in Bartlett. The retailer received a $10,000 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket”.
