CM Punk Retired: Fans Turning On Chicago Wrestler Despite Possible Return After New Highlight Package On WWE Network

According to some sources, faithful fans of CM Punk are starting to waver. Those hardcore holdouts who were sure the whole walkout in January was part of a storyline aren't holding their breath six months later. So obviously, now would be the perfect time to strike, right? The apparently retired, Chicago-born wrestler has rarely been seen publicly in the last six months. Yet the WWE Network announced that a new highlight package spotlighting CM Punk's historical back-to-back Money In The Bank victories will appear on an upcoming edition of Wrestlemania Rewind. Could this point to a possible return?

Even though fans' patience has been wearing thin lately, Punk's patience and dedication to character make it impossible to guess what his real intentions are (via What Culture):

"Punk's played with this kind of thing before, so a little 'boy who cried wolf' reaction on the part of wrestling fans the world over was understandable. It was a work, they nodded to themselves wisely. They asserted that he'd be back for the next RAW in his hometown of Chicago...

Of course, CM Punk didn't come back. And the longer it went, the more people stopped predicting when he'd come back and started sniping at him for leaving. Even the staunchest of Punk supporters have begun to feel a little bit narked over the last few months."

Adding fuel to the fire is the inclusion of Punk on new programming by the WWE Network. All the mystery surrounding Punk's situation does leave fans to wonder what is real and what is storyline (via Fan Sided):

"Some will more than likely read too much into this, but it might be warranted in this case. Why would WWE take the time to make sure that Punk is never mentioned, but then feature him on one of the most popular shows on their network?"
