Floyd Mayweather just applied for a promoter's license in New York which leads many to believe he may be staging his next fight in Brooklyn. May has already decided on a rematch with Marcos Maidana on September 13, but a venue has yet to be announced. Sure to be in attendance no matter where the venue is May's bestest friend in the whole wide world, Justin Bieber. Money and Beebs are so tight that when his kids were in a bad car crash last week, Beebs went to the hospital to pick them up and bring them to Mayweather, who was stuck on the red carpet. They co-parent great, don't they? Meanwhile, Floyd has managed to go one whole week without putting anything sexist on any of his social media accounts.
If Mayweather is not planning on fighting in New York in September, at least he sees a potentially lucrative market. For all of his many shortcomings, May is a rather savvy businessman. Brett Yormark, CEO of Barclays Center in Brooklyn, smells what Floyd is cooking (via New York Daily News):
"I think by going for a license he sees the values of hopefully one day fighting in New York... And I think when he makes that decision at some point I feel very confident that Brooklyn will be that destination at the Barclays Center. They haven't made any decision on Sept. 13 and hopefully we'll receive great consideration."
While Mayweather schmoozed on the red carpet last week, his buddy Justin Bieber played supermom when he picked up Floyd's kids after they were involved in a major car crash (via TMZ):
"We're told it was a multi-vehicle collision ... several cars and a motorcycle. The kids were not seriously injured -- one had a busted lip -- and Bieber tried comforting them by playing his new music for them.
"Bieber was then allowed to put the kids in his SUV and drove them to Floyd ... then returned to the accident scene to inform cops the children were with the boxer.
