A seemingly inebriated Dennis Rodman chatted up cops and a TMZ camera man last week in the streets of LA. Confronting the crew with denials of being gay, Rodman seems to be in a downward spiral since last year's diplomatic trip to North Korea. The public relations backlash seems to have resulted in Rodman's falling off the wagon.
Rodman has always been eccentric, so it's a little strange that he would be so fixated on public perception of his sexuality. The ever-controversial power forward even wore a wedding dress to a book release. Why, then, is he so concerned with appearances all of a sudden? Maybe it's just the booze talkin' (via TMZ):
"When our camera guy opened with, 'How you doing tonight?' -- The Worm responded, 'I'm not gay.' Dennis then starts rambling about all sorts of things ... law enforcement, quality of L.A. hospitals ... it's weird. He even goes back to the gay issue -- again, unprompted by anyone.
"In case you forgot ... Rodman checked into rehab back in January after that whole North Korea debacle."
Rodman, who has had a history of alcohol abuse, including multiple stints in rehab, seems to be struggling yet again.
Could it be somehow related to his newfound status as a self-appointed diplomat to North Korea? The media backlash has been brutal, and perhaps the stress of that scrutiny is driving Rodman to the bottle (via Carbonated TV):
"Kim absolutely loves his American 'buddy', former NBA player Dennis Rodman. Both of them have met more than twice and Rodman has even fought with reporters over Kim... These were taken last year when Rodman - on a trip to DPRK - went to watch a basketball game with Kim."
