Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose continued their feud on Friday Night Smackdown. When the two traded barbs, and then blows at the top of the show, Randy Orton came out to double team Ambrose, prompting Roman Reigns to come out and defend his former Shield Teammate. Then Triple H came out and assigned a match: Ambrose vs. The Viper Randy Orton. The on-screen COO went on to say that if Reigns were to interfere in the match he would be removed from the fatal four-way title match at WWE Battleground. As the match ensued, Seth Rollins sat at ringside to observe. At one point Ambrose flew out of the ring and attacked Rollins, who, minutes later, ganged up on Ambrose with Orton once again. This resulted in a disqualification, thus ending the match and allowing Reigns to come in and save his former partner yet again.

The recurring theme in the Shield's break-up saga has been Dean Ambrose's singular obsession with avenging himself against his traitorous associate Seth Rollins. As a result, according to Ambrose, every attempt Rollins makes to cash in his Money In The Bank contract will "blow up in [his] face" (via Daily DDT):
"Ambrose told Rollins he is delusional. Ambrose reiterated that he will be there every time Rollins tries to cash-in, no matter what plan Rollins and his 'sugar daddy', Triple H, put together. Ambrose introduced the video of him thwarting Rollins' cash-in on Monday, then told Rollins that is what his life will look like for the next year. Ambrose said that the briefcase is a curse for Rollins, not the blessing he thinks it is."
As for Roman Reigns being given a title shot at Battleground, host Michael Cole asked Triple H why he would risk giving the shot to a Superstar who is so clearly anti-Authority (via Cage Side Seats):
"It's what the WWE Universe wants, isn't it, Cole? You hear the reaction Roman Reigns gets. I mean I look at it like this, in some ways it's best for business... If I was John Cena and I was looking across the ring at three guys that hungry to be in my shoes and I don't even have to get beat to lose what I have... that... that is the hard way."
