Bundle up Storybrooke, Frozen is coming. Fans got their very first taste of the Snow Queen during the last moments of Season 3. Now the hit ABC series, Once Upon a Time, is one step closer to bringing the smash Disney movie to life. Fringe star Georgina Haig has been cast as Elsa, meaning we likely won't be seeing Idina Menzel anytime soon. The same goes for Kristin Bell. The starlet had expressed an interest in reprising her role as Anna in the live action TV Show. However, the role of Anna has also been cast with Elizabeth Lail stepping into the role. Rounding out the cast is Scott Michael Foster as Kristoff.
Forget Game of Thrones, the real winter is heading to Storybrooke. The hit ABC fairytale drama is about to crossover with Disney’s smash animated musical Frozen in a really big way.
OUAT executive producer Adam Horowitz spoke to E! Online at the end of Season 3, about about how they managed to talk Disney into letting them use the Frozen characters:
“It felt like it was in the wheelhouse of what we wanted for the show and we were very excited about it, and we pitched the idea to the studio network and we were very fortunate that they gave us the go-ahead...So there's a lot of trust all around that we need to live up to, we know that this is a beloved characters and a beloved movie. My five-year-old daughter would be the first one to raise the pitchfork. So you know we're very excited and humbled by the opportunity.”
At the time of no casting was known, but Kristen Bell was rumored to reprising her role, adding:
“To be perfectly honest we haven't even begun starting casting, there are a lot of amazing people out there and we have to find them….Well Kristen Bell was Anna. We saw the interview you guys did with her and we're going to start our process. [In regards to] Kristen Bell, there's no bigger fans than us, whether it be Frozen or Veronica Mars.”
