Chris Jericho, also known as Y2J, made his return to WWE on Raw Monday night. It was his first appearance in a year and fans went nuts. In a segment that started off with the return of The Miz, audience were jolted out of their slumber when the Ayatollah of Rock-And-Rolla came down the ramp and interrupted The Miz's segment. But then things went south for the former champ when the lights went out and suddenly the Wyatt family were in the ring. Bray Wyatt, along with his cohorts Eric Rowan and Luke Harper, beat Y2J down in a vicious attack that so far remains unexplained.
The Miz, born Mike Mizanin, came back to RAW following a four-month absence while filming The Marine 4: Moving Target. Crowds were excited about the return of a mystery wrestler, and then either confused/angry or confused/bored at the sight of the underwhelming Mizanin. The old bait-and-switch worked like a charm, because when Chris Jericho came to the ring and rained on his parade the crowd went crazy (via USA Today):
"The WWE promised a former champion would return on Monday Night Raw, leading some fans to speculate that C.M. Punk may finally be coming back to the business. When The Miz took the ring in Hartford, it was a bit of a letdown."
Then fans were shocked to see the Wyatt family suddenly appear and drop Jericho like a bad habit, culminating with Bray Wyatt crush Y2J with a Sister Abigail. It looks like the start of a great new angle (via Bleacher Report):
"Jericho has been a busy man since his last WWE appearance. Not only has he been involved with Fozzy, but he has also had plenty of other side projects to focus on. Jericho will always be viewed as a wrestler first and foremost, however, and it is obvious that he still loves to perform in the WWE."
