There is a new "Mr. Money In The Bank", and his name is Seth Rollins, Since turning heel last month, Rollins has aligned himself with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Rollins, who betrayed his teammates Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose of The Shield, is now entitled to a title match "anytime, anyplace" after his Ladder Match victory in Sunday night's wrestling Pay-Per-View. When he cashes in the contract, will Seth Rollins become the next WWE World Heavyweight Champion?
The climax of the Ladder Match for the "Money In The Bank" contract happened when the Demon Kane (also known as "Corporate Kane" and, at my house, "Helper Kane") interfered on behalf of the Authority and allowed Rollins to climb the ladder uninterrupted. He also gave Dean Ambrose a choke slam for his troubles (via Bleacher Report):
"With the help of 'The Big Red Machine' Kane, Rollins thwarted former Shield teammate Dean Ambrose's attempts to ruin his dream of obtaining the WWE world heavyweight title contract."
With Rollins' star on the rise, it seems that earlier predictions that his defection to Evolution was a double swerve were wrong. In fact, the early reports were pretty skeptical about the breakup of the Shield but all three members seem to be flourishing on their own (via Bleacher Report):
"Admittedly, the split between The Shield had to happen at some point. But the fact that it is happened whilst the trio were riding a huge wave of popularity seems particularly strange, and it would be fantastic if the group were planning a massive swerve to cement their popularity.
"The split doesn't really seem to have happened at the correct time, and that is why it is important WWE choose their next move carefully when it comes to Seth Rollins."
In light of the events of the last month, maybe Seth Rollins was right. Maybe he did really just do what was best for business.
