LeBron James, who just became a free agent last week, is reportedly seeking a maximum contract next year. He and teammates Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh took significant pay cuts in 2010 in favor of a championship team. Now it seems that James wants to be paid commensurate with his status. Although he has plenty of money in endorsements and salary, perhaps he wants to beef up his net worth to prepare for his third child's arrival. The Heat star, who was accused of cheating on his new wife Savannah earlier this year, is apparently expecting their first daughter at some point. Though Savannah has been spotted with a baby bump as early as March of this year, the couple have not publicly commented or even confirmed the pregnancy.
LeBron James is reportedly asking the Heat to pay him the maximum amount as allowed by the salary cap rules (via Sporting News):
"This is important because James, along with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, accepted a pay cut to make salaries work in Miami. At that point, James' priority was winning an NBA title.
"Two NBA titles and four Finals trips later, James wants to be paid like the NBA's best player, after he was the ninth-highest paid in the league last year, at just below $19.1."
LeBron and Savannah, who have two sons together, are finally expecting a baby girl, according to Heat president Pat Riley. Despite the rumors of James cheating, he and Savannah seem to be the perfect couple (via Christian Post):
"'When u have someone that's always there for you no matter the ups and downs in life, it makes it all worth living for! So happy to call u Mrs. Savannah James #MyQueen#Backbone#QueenJames#Honeymoon,' LeBron captioned in an Instagram photo.
"'I just think she has a knack for being powerful,' the Heat star once said. 'Women are more powerful than men. Her voice and her being my sidekick, her voice is very powerful.'"
