Kobe Bryant is expected to pull out all the stops to recruit Carmelo Anthony to the Lakers. The 5-Time Champ is extremely interested in bringing Melo to LA, as Anthony is a newly christened free agent. But LA might not be the right fit for Anthony. The feeling is he wants to go to a team that is an immediate contender for the NBA Championship. Meanwhile, Kobe is on vacation in Greece with his family while his cool new purple shoes prepare to fly off the shelves.
So Kobe wants Carmelo hard, but the Lakers are in bad shape right now. It is unlikely that they can build a championship team around Kobe and Melo in just one year (via Washington Post):
"The Los Angeles Lakers wouldn't seem to be an ideal destination for Carmelo Anthony, the free agent who is more interested in winning a title than making an outrageous fortune."
Still, it is the off-season so why not take a few days and head on over to Greece (via TMZ):
"With his new favorite team Spain eliminated from the World Cup, and the Lakers being in total shambles, seems like as good a time as any for a lil Mamba break.
"Although you know he probably still got a couple shots up and a weight room sesh in. #Workaholic.
Of course who can think of trades and NBA Titles when the new Kobe shoes are in full effect (via Classicalite):
"The new Nike 'Michael Jackson' Kobe 9 Elite Low, which will be available worldwide July 12, are a tribute to the King of Pop; the soles depict the lunar surface to facilitate 'moonwalking'. Bryant spoke at Jackson's 2009 memorial about the impact MJ had on him..."
