No one won this weekend’s Powerball lottery, meaning that this week’s totals having risen again. Check the report below to see how high the new totals are before you buy your tickets for this Wednesday's game.
The official Powerball lottery website crawl currently reads:
“There were no jackpot winners for Saturday's drawing... The next drawing will be Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014.”
That means that the all new totals have risen to $90 million, with an estimated cash value of $53.8.
The Powerball lottery website also reports one of the recent big wins, adding:
“The Florida Lottery announces that the FlaMass Family Lottery Joint Venture claimed the $148.8 million jackpot prize for the POWERBALL® drawing held on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. The partners of the joint venture, Louis Centrella, 72, of Daytona Beach; Suzanne Centrella, 54, of Naples; and Christopher Centrella, 39, of Naples; chose to receive the winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $86,932,220.04.
“The jackpot-winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased from E's Country Store North, located at 14344 Immokalee Road in Naples. The retailer received a $60,000 bonus commission for selling the jackpot-winning POWERBALL ticket.”
The site also offers some hints about how to play:
“Powerball® is a combined large jackpot game and a cash game. Every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time, we draw five white balls out of a drum with 59 balls and one red ball out of a drum with 35 red balls. Draw sales cut off at least 59 minutes before the draw. Check for local cut-off time.
“Players win by matching one of the 9 Ways to Win. The jackpot (won by matching all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball) is either an annuitized prize paid out over 29 years (30 payments) or a lump sum payment. Each ticket costs $2. If the winner chooses the annuity, the annual payment will be increased each year by the percentage set out in the Powerball game rules.
“The second prize (won by matching five white balls in any order) is $1,000,000 paid in cash and any time you match the red Powerball, you win. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are approximately 1 in 32.”
