Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is looking ahead to his future in the NFL despite the tragic loss of his two-year old son last year. Joseph Robert Patterson, who was out on bail after being charged with the murder of Tyrese Robert Ruffin, has been arrested again, this time for choking Tyrese's mother. Patterson visited her even though he was issued a restraining order. The suspect was allegedly alone with the child at the time of his death.
Last week Joseph Robert Patterson went to the home of Tyrese's mother Doheen Ruffin and allegedly choked her, rendering her unconscious according to State's Attorney Aaron McGowan (via USA Today):
"'The victim had ligature marks on her neck,' McGowan said. He added that despite signing a no-contact order with the victim, Patterson still texted Doheen within an hour of Wednesday's court hearing."
Judge Joni Cutler set bail at $1 million:
"Mr. Patterson is a danger to both the victim and the community."
Patterson was ordered to stay away before the alleged assault, and even after that he was texting Doheen, according to McGowan.
The murder charge was given because of bruises on Tyrese's head, consistent with abuse (via New York Daily News):
"Patterson, who has a history of domestic incidents, had been free on $750,000 bond after being charged in Tyrese Peterson's tragic death in October 2013."
Somehow, despite all this, Adrian Peterson has tried to stay focused on football. The highly confident running back has recently announced that he intends to play football until he is forty, if he doesn't get cut (via ESPN):
"If that's going younger or trying to save money, that's what it boils down to, no matter what type of talent you are. It's really the unfortunate part of the business, but I'm blessed to still be around, and hopefully, it doesn't happen to me one day."
