Time for another news update from the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie. Following Rita Ora's high-profile breakup with Calvin Johnson, Dakota Johnson's dad once again expressed some concerns about the soon-to-be released flick. This marks the second time Don Johnson has expressed some doubt about the film, however, he still manages to praise his daughter's performance.
Don Johnson is known for speaking his mind, and he's done it once again. The actor told Good Morning Britain that some people will find Dakota's role controversial, but he's sure she did an amazing job (via Us Magazine):
"This is the family business. This is what we do, and I am absolutely certain that Dakota will take a piece of material and a character which a lot of people might imagine could be inappropriate in some ways and turn it into something spectacular."
Don keeps getting asked about Fifty Shades in interviews. Normally, however, he's criticizing the body of work the film is based on.
EL James probably doesn't care what Don Johnson thinks about her bestselling novel, but that didn't stop the actor from bashing her work. In an interview with Huffington Post, Don admitted that he never read James' book, nor does he have any plans to do so in the future:
"I don't know anything about [50 Shades of Grey]...this isn't something I would go out and buy and read anyways. This isn't on my bucket list. I read 'The Story Of O' in the sixties so I think I'm up to speed. I can tell you this: Dakota is a gifted, gifted actress. And this will be a blip in a long line of parts where she kills it. She is the authentic article and I am exceedingly proud of her."
