Adam Rose Over: Budget Cuts Rosebuds Trimmed But Fan Response Growing

The WWE has indeed been tightening the belt since Vince McMahon taking a huge hit in the stock market last week. Besides firing 11 Superstars from the roster and reported cuts to the writing staff, the WWE has also cut extravagant expenditures like travel accommodations for extras like Adam Rose's Rosebuds. The budget cuts mean the Rosebuds' TV time might get trimmed but some have attributed this to the notion that Rose's Exotic Express gimmick is failing. They're wrong. Adam Rose may have gotten off to a slow start but he is getting over with the fans and he is winning matches. With a growing fan response and a great sense of ring style WWE creative would be wise to take heed of the crowd's reaction.

A few weeks ago critics had all but written off Adam Rose. His limited TV time since his debut and the recent budget cuts have led people to conclude that his clock is ticking and there have even been reports that Vince McMahon and creative leader Kevin Dunn don't like his angle (via Daily DDT):

"It makes sense as the company is making some serious budget cuts and therefore make the most sense. I believe in giving the younger guys some TV time, but in a completely different way. Also, the Adam Rose gimmick is not getting over and this is a sign from WWE Management."

There have also been complaints about his winning streak, a streak that indicates the opposite about people's theories about Rose's popularity backstage (via Pro Wrestling.net):

"Adam Rose continues to disappoint and there was no reason to job out Titus here twice. I realize he's probably never going to be a big star for WWE, but this just screamed fake and didn't have enough going on to cover for that."

While it's true that the match between Titus O'Neil was bad, it wasn't Rose's fault. That was just bad writing.

The bottom line is, Rose has an awesome gimmick, solid ring skills and a great theme song. The WWE Universe's enthusiastic response when chanting along to his music is a potential creative powder keg. Vince McMahon would be an idiot to throw that away. Which isn't to say he won't do it.
